Dom Capers reportedly turned down chance at Bengals defensive coordinator job

The hunt for the next Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator continues.

Two of the prominent candidates linked to head coach Zac Taylor’s new staff are now non-options. Taylor and Jack Del Rio reportedly decided together the fit wasn’t right.

Now it turns out Dom Capers turned down a chance at the job:

Capers fizzled out in a bad way recently with Green Bay, so this isn’t too much of a loss for the Bengals.

It would also explain why a new report suggests the team has reached out to the Los Angeles Rams seeking permission to interview Aubrey Pleasant.

At this point, the Bengals are in a bit of an unknown space when it comes to defensive coordinator, which is unfortunate because it’s arguably the most critical hire. Taylor, after all, is an offensive-minded coach who will focus most of his attention on that side of the ball.
