The Miami Dolphins announced on Wednesday a new initiative aimed at providing meals to those in need throughout the South Florida community in a response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Food Relief Program is highlighted by a commitment of $2 million in funds from Dolphins owner Stephen Ross and the Miami Dolphins organization to the Miami Dolphins Foundation Food Relief Program.
The stated goal of the program is to provide at least 1,000 meals a day starting on June 1, 2020. The initiative hopes to provide meals for up to one year — and a fundraising effort is ongoing to add on more and further build upon the foundation established by Ross and the Miami Dolphins Foundation.
This marks the latest charitable effort put on by the Miami Dolphins organization — which has consistently been providing impactful opportunities for the South Florida community through fundraisers, donations and events.
Their latest act to offset the damage being done by the COVID-19 pandemic will go a long way in helping keep bellies full in the Miami Gardens area — the distribution of meals is set to take place during the week at Hard Rock Stadium.
