Dolphins announce changes for a socially distant game day experience

The Miami Dolphins have been ahead of the curve as it relates to the NFL and coronavirus policies — the team was the first to share a proposed ticket admission process in the spring, they are the first NFL team to reach the highest level of sanitation accreditation courtesy of the Global Biorisk Advisory Council and the team has hired an infectious disease expert to serve a role on their staff this year.

And now, we can grasp what procedural changes the Miami Dolphins are making to ensure that their training camp and game day procedures are able to adhere to maximum social distancing and promote the highest levels of safety for fans hoping to attend a Miami Dolphins game this season.

The most notable adjustment for fans will of course be no tailgating — a standard experience of any pre-game ritual. But these are trying times and if the NFL is going to go off as planned this fall, the reduced contact from fans ahead of the game can be a crucial adjustment and audible to call.

Some NFL teams have already had their hopes of fans in the stands squashed, such as the Philadelphia Eagles. The city’s health officials recently stated that the team may play at the stadium but that fans would not be permitted into the stands. It sounds as though, at least for now, the Dolphins will be planning on hosting fans — although the city of Miami is currently one of the current hotbeds of COVID-19, which could complicate those plans in the coming months unless things change.
