Dolly Parton 'banned' from TikTok a day after joining leaving fans baffled

Dolly Parton has been banned from TikTok just hours after joining the social media platform.

The 75-year-old hit US country singer-songwriter launched her account @ItsDollyParton on Sunday night, with the handle amassing in excess of 680,000 followers.

But many of Dolly’s fans were left perplexed when the music star’s newly-created account was banned.

“Why hello, I guess I'm on TikTok! I just dropped in to say that it will be okay,” said Dolly in her short video, before singing.

“If I can do it, so can you ... I believe in you.”

Wearing a yellow top and yellow and blue patterned pants, country singer Dolly was all smiles as she greeted her fans.

But any hope of more social media activity on the platform quickly vanished as it was taken down, leaving fans baffled.

TikTok advised: “This account was banned due to multiple Community Guidelines violations.”

Users of the site began to share their upset that the country legend should receive such harsh treatment for her sweet video.

One disillusioned user blasted: “WHY WAS DOLLY PARTON BANNED FROM TIKTOK?”.

“The number of trolls I’ve (and other creators) have reported on TikTok and somehow they choose to ban the pride of America, Dolly Parton,” slammed another fan of the star.

And a third pointed out: “Dolly Parton joined TikTok and then was banned immediately.”

"Okay but why is nobody talking about how Dolly Parton was banned from TikTok today? Her first day??? What did she do," one user stressed on Twitter.

Another mused: "@DollyParton i am so sorry @tiktok_us banned you for no reason. you deserve so much better. we love you."

However, the mystery soon became clear as the ban was because the account was in fact a very convincing fake.

A user on the site had shared a clip of Dolly which she filmed for her charity in 2020, with the post appearing to come direct from Dolly HQ.

Dolly has thriving social media accounts, with 4.4 million Instagram admirers and 5.2 million Twitter followers.

But it is yet to be seen whether the popular singer will launch an official TikTok account, especially after the latest fake offering.

It's been an eventful year for the '9 to 5' singer, who celebrated her milestone 75th birthday in January and also helped fund Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine research.

"I felt like this was the time for me to open my heart and my hand and try to help," she said at the time on the Today show, donating $1 million (£731,000) to Vanderbilt University.
