Dolls' house raffle raises more than £2000 for homeless people this Christmas

A dolls' house raffle has raised more than £2,000 for homeless people this Christmas.

Shelter Scotland on Great Western Road near the Botanic Gardens were given the stunning mock-Tudor doll's house by a local man who had spent years building and furnishing it.

A member of staff said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by response to the raffle.

"We could have put the house up for sale in the normal way, with a price tag of around £500 (five hundred), but decided a raffle would raise more money and, at £5 a go, would give most people a chance of owning it.”

The winning ticket was drawn on Monday morning and was won by a pensioner who, staff said, was absolutely delighted because he wanted it as a Christmas present for his grandchildren.
