Dogs Trust seek home for 'petrified' dog rescued from puppy farm this Mother's Day

Dogs Trust are appealing to the public to take in a traumatised dog who previously lived on a puppy farm.

The charity is encouraging people to adopt 4 year old Carrie, a puppy farm mum, ahead of Mother's Day this Sunday. The pooch first entered the Dogs Trust facility in 2022 alongside seven other dogs from an illegal establishment.

Carrie had multiple issues upon her entry into Dogs Trust. The dog was severely malnourished and fearful of most people at the facility. Veterinary examinations showed that she had been used repeatedly for breeding in the past.

However, Carrie has made huge strides since joining Dogs Trust. The pooch still has a nervous disposition but now goes for walks with people she trusts.

A Dogs Trust spokesperson said: " Given the current unwanted dog crisis in Ireland, we are finding it increasingly difficult to find adopters who are willing to take on a dog like Carrie. She is an extremely sweet dog who just needs a second chance in life with people who will love her enough to let her come to them, on her own terms and in her own time."

The DSPCA also recently issued an appeal as their animal shelter reached full capacity. The Dublin based charity said they were seeing more sick and injured dogs present at their base in recent times.

Carrie will require a home with a decent sized garden, as she initially may be afraid to go on walks with new people. People can find out more about Carrie via the Dogs Trust website.
