Doggy cafe just for dachshunds opens in Cardiff bar

A pop-up cafe for sausage dogs has opened in a Cardiff bar .

The Dachshund Diner was the first of its kind in the city, with similar get-togethers across the UK having previously sold out within minutes.

The pedigree pop-up - the  brainchild of the Pug Cafe, a company specialising in canine events - turned up at Revolución de Cuba, off Greyfriars Road.

Both dachshund owners and their dogs decided to go walkies to the venue to meet up and share their love of the breed over cake and cocktails .

For visitors of the four-legged variety there was also a whole dedicated menu laid out, including PUPcakes, DOGnuts, PAWsecco and PAWbons.

Plus, every dachshund received a free Pupuccino to drink.

"Our Dachshund Cafe pop-ups are so popular all around the UK," said Anushka Fernando, the mastermind behind the idea.

"We knew the Welsh love sausage dogs – there’s a huge community here – so it made sense to come to Cardiff.

""We have been hosting events for nearly two years now and have seen thousands of dogs and their owners come along to join us.

"It's the perfect day out for your pup."
