Does Meghan Markle still act – and what else has she been in besides Suits?

Meghan Markle is celebrating her 41st birthday today with her husband Prince Harry, 37, and their children Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

She started her career as an actress in Los Angeles, rising to fame through the immensely popular TV series Suits.

However, she left the show when she married Harry, joining the Royal Family in the process.

In the end, they made the decision to "step back as 'senior' members" of the Royals in 2020, potentially freeing Meghan up to return to her acting roots.

They live incredibly busy lives, living in the USA and making appearances around the world.

Recently they have tried their hands at working behind the camera, though their Netflix deal hasn't produced anything yet.

Meghan starred as Rachel Zane in Suits from 2011 until 2018, when she left the series after getting engaged to Prince Harry.

Before that, she only made cameo appearances in shows such as Castle, CSI: Miami, Fringe and Without A Trace.

The Duchess of Sussex’s first role came in 1995, in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it uncredited role in the show Married With Children - which her father Thomas Markle Sr had been involved in.

From there, her next acting TV acting gig came in 2002 with General Hospital, which led to CSI: NY, 90210, the Night Rider remake and more.

When Meghan left Suits, she stepped away from acting entirely as she retired to join the Royal Family.

In a recent interview with Extra, her former co-star Patrick J Adams - who played Mike Ross, the love interest of Meghan’s Rachel in the series - said he’d love to work with her again.

He said he would “kill to work with Meghan again”, adding: "She’s a huge talent and, more than anything, she’s the most motivated, driven human being I’ve ever met in my life."

Despite his hopes, the Duchess has given no sign that she will return to the world of acting anytime soon.

However, it doesn’t mean she has left showbiz behind her entirely.

What does Meghan Markle do today?

Back in September 2020, Meghan and Harry signed a multi-year deal with Netflix which pays them to make documentaries, docu-series, feature films, TV shows and children’s content.

This is a partnership between the streaming platform and the couple’s production company Archewell Productions.

However, it hasn’t been an easy process, as nearly two years later there still hasn’t been any content to materialise on the streamer.

In an interview on Australia's Sunrise, royal expert Angela Mollard shared her thoughts on the Netflix deal.

She said: "[We] also have to think about the fact that they, in a sense, gave away, for free, to Oprah a lot of content.

"They've told her a lot. So, what exclusivity does Netflix have?

"Let’s say if they were to do a documentary on them. If you were the boss of Netflix, you'd be thinking, 'oh, am I getting my money's worth out of these two?'"

"Voicing a couple of [documentaries] is really not cutting it. I just don't think that they're bringing [that].

"There has to be an alignment of brands and whether or not that's happening, I don't think we can see that happening at this stage."
