Longtime NASCAR crew chief and competition executive Kevin Kidd has been named the North American Motorsports Competition Director for Stellantis.
In this role, Kidd will oversee all motorsport activities in both the NASCAR Truck Series and NHRA for the RAM and Dodge brands. Dodge competes in NHRA with Tony Stewart Racing and will field five trucks with Kaulig Racing next season.
“The intersection of engineering and competition has always been my passion,” said Kidd. “Stellantis’ innovative approach to motorsports, especially in partnership with Kaulig Racing, presents a unique opportunity to push boundaries. I’m looking forward to contributing fresh ideas to help drive these efforts forward.”
Kidd most recently spent 10 years at what is now RFK Racing in a variety roles. Before that, he was a crew chief at Joe Gibbs Racing, Evernham Racing and Dale Earnhardt Inc. over his 25 year career at the highest levels of NASCAR. He also served five years on the NASCAR Competition Advisory Committee.
He will report directly to Tom Sacoman, Senior Vice President of SRT Performance Division Operations.
“Our unconventional approach to competition demands a leader who can think differently, and Kevin is exactly that,” said Sacoman. “His reputation in racing, combined with the capabilities of our teams, will help deliver on our ‘Last Tenth’ performance philosophy.”
