‘Disturbs me’ - Manchester United-linked World Cup star not happy about transfer rumours

Defender Kim Min-jae says he is appalled by the suggestion that he could leave Napoli just six months after signing for the Italian club.

Reports have tentatively linked the centre-half with a potential move to the Premier League, with United among those rumoured to hold an interest. The 26-year-old starred for South Korea in the World Cup, helping his side to the last 16 where they suffered a 4-0 loss to Brazil.

He’s been in good form for the Serie A leaders Napoli too, helping them to remain unbeaten in 15 league outings by keeping five clean sheets in 14 starts. He’s kept a further two in the Champions League after chipping in with two goals earlier in the domestic campaign.

Min-jae secured a £17m move from Fenerbahce over the summer in one of the bargains of the off-season. His performances have naturally attracted interest from clubs in Western Europe but the player himself has turned his nose up at any talk over a move elsewhere so soon after moving to Naples.

Speaking to Korean TV Show You Quiz, as per Calciomercato he said: “There are a lot of transfer stories around me, but I’ve only been at Napoli for six months. I’ve avoided interviews, and one of the reasons [is] that the rumours about me disturb me.”

United are not short on centre-backs with six currently in the first-team while Eric Bailly is enjoying a season-long loan at Marseille. First choice pairing Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane are set to feature in Sunday’s World Cup final for Argentina and France, respectively.

Harry Maguire also had a solid tournament with England while Victor Lindelof stayed at Carrington following Sweden’s failure to qualify for Qatar.

Meanwhile, Axel Tuanzebe continues his recovery from a long-term setback while Teden Mengi suffered a hamstring injury during United's friendly with Real Betis on Saturday, after enduring months on the sidelines earlier this year.
