Disturbed by crying, mentally-challenged man kills grandson, daughter-in-law in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur

SITAPUR: A 55-year-old man, identified as Kamalkant and reported to be mentally-challenged, has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his 2-year-old grandson, Ayush, and daughter-in-law, Shikha, in Mudiyakalan village in the Taalgaon police station area of Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh.

According to Sitapur SP Chakresh Mishra, Kamalkant attacked Ayush with a sickle, reportedly disturbed by the constant crying of the child.

When Shikha tried to intervene, she was also brutally attacked by the accused. Ayush died on the spot, and Shikha, critically injured, later succumbed to her injuries at a hospital.

Kamalkant was arrested at the crime scene, and the murder weapon was seized. Ayush's grandmother, who was not present during the incident, discovered the gruesome scene upon her return, revealing that her son worked in Punjab, and only four family members resided in the house.
