Disneyland fan breaks record after making 2,995 consecutive visits to theme park

A Disneyland fanatic has broken a Guinness World Record after making 2,995 consecutive visits to the theme park.

Jeff Reitz, 50, from California, US, had started his journey back in 2012 as a joke between his friends but soon became addicted and tallied up a record-breaking eight years, three months, and 13 days of visits at Disneyland Anaheim.

He chronicled his daily trips to Disneyland on social media when he made his 60th consecutive appearance to the park.

But it wasn't until 2017, when Jeff made a 2,000 visit, he started to go viral for his Disneyland obsession.

He was even gifted a backpack full of Disneyland treats by the company for his loyalty and dedication.

He told Guinness World Records: "It started as a joke between friends when Disneyland announced they were giving an ‘Extra Disney Day’ when they announced the Leap Day 24-hour event in 2012."

Jeff had his sights on reaching the 3,000 consecutive visit mark but the covid pandemic stopped him in his tracks and he was forced to halt his streak on March 14, 2020 as the parks shut down.

But after Jeff visited for an astonishing 366 days in a row Disneyland presented him with a gift basket along with a certificate of Honorary Citizenship.

He wants to visit the theme park again but this time with his Guinness World Record certificate as he plans to pose for pictures inside Disneyland.

Jeff added: "I have not set a return date yet, but now I think it would be really fun to return with my Guinness World Records title certificate to get pictures where I earned it — inside Disneyland."

Fellow Disneyland fans were quick to praise him after he posted his achievement on social media.

One fan replied: "Congrats dude!! Very well earned!! And I'll bet you're secretly glad COVID gave you an excuse to take a break!"

Another wrote: "Congrats! I’m so lucky to have met you in line during an after hours small world holiday event! Icon."

And one user said they were "lucky" to have met Jeff five years ago as he was embarking on his record-breaking journey.

A fan wrote: "Congrats on finally earning a Guinness world record! So lucky to have met you five years ago at Disneyland."
