Greater Western Sydney face a nervous wait to learn Finn Callaghan's immediate outlook after scans confirmed a "minor" dislocation of the star midfielder's right shoulder.

Callaghan was hurt in a collision with Fremantle's Patrick Voss on the three-quarter time siren in the Giants' 34-point home defeat on Saturday.

The 22-year-old ball-winner is set to miss the important clash with Carlton in Round 11, but appears to have escaped serious damage.

"Scans have confirmed a minor shoulder dislocation for Finn Callaghan," GWS said in a statement.

"A return-to-play timeline will be confirmed tomorrow (Monday) following consultation with the club medical team.

"At this stage it is not deemed to be long term."

GWS made a strong start to the season but have lost four of their past five games, slipping to a 5-5 record ahead of their clash with the Blues at Marvel Stadium.
