'Disgraceful!' Roy Keane launches scathing attack on Chelsea and Wales youngster

Outspoken pundit Roy Keane has launched a scathing attack on Wales international Ethan Ampadu.

Wales were held to a drab goalless draw at the hands of the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Sunday, although the visitors were perhaps unlucky not to be awarded a penalty in the first half, after Ampadu collided with Ireland goalkeeper Darren Randolph.

The 20-year old, who recently completed a loan move to Sheffield United, went down holding his head, seemingly in some pain, but former Ireland international Keane had little sympathy.

"Just disgraceful, really," Keane said on ITV. "This Ampadu, like, what's the game coming to?

"He should be ashamed of himself, grabbing his head. I'd be embarrassed if I was him. Ridiculous."

Ampadu, who had earned his 17th cap for Wales at the Aviva, was then invovled in another flash point deep into the second half, finding himself on the end of a reckless challenge from James McClean.

The tackle earned McClean a second yellow card, and the Stoke City star was visibly unhappy with the reaction from the Chelsea youngster, who again appeared to be in some pain.

Keane's fellow pundit Ian Wright believed the challenge to look worse than it was, but admitted that McLean's reaction meant he was right to receive his marching orders.

"[McClean] has caught [Ampadu] on the toe," he said.

"It's one of those because of the ferocity at which he's gone in, it looks worse than it is.

"I don't think McClean helps himself going across and doing this [pointing in his face].

"He pushed him in the head - he should get sent off for that."
