A disabled man suffered significant injuries after being pulled from his mobility scooter by a "callous and cowardly" couple who tried to steal his puppy. The attack, which happened in Caerwys, Flintshire on Easter Sunday, was only thwarted when a group of local youths intervened as the man fought desperately to hold on to his pet boxer.
The couple fled from the scene empty-handed, but the 63-year-old man was left with "significant injuries" to his face and upper body after being pulled from his scooter during the struggle, North Wales Live reports. Police are now investigating the incident and have released a description of the man and woman who attempted to take the young dog, urging anybody with information to come forward.
A spokesperson for North Wales Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses in relation to an attempted dog theft in Caerwys. A 63-year-old disabled man was left with significant injuries as he tried to prevent a couple from stealing his Boxer puppy whilst walking it earlier this week.
