Director selects American actor for shock James Bond role

James Bond Sydney Sweeney Paul Feig

Director Paul Feig has suggested American actor Sydney Sweeney should play James Bond, rather than a Bond girl, praising her professionalism and intelligence.
Feig, who worked with Sweeney on The Housemaid, stated he would "rather Sydney be the next Bond" as she would be a "super-spy."
Sweeney herself previously hinted at wanting the lead role, remarking she would "have more fun as James Bond" than a supporting part.
The Euphoria star's alleged connection to the Bond franchise reportedly stems from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos's interest in her appearing as a Bond girl.
Amazon MGM Studios took over creative control of the James Bond films in 2025, with Denis Villeneuve directing and Steven Knight writing the script for the next instalment.
