Director drawn on Robin Koch interest amid reports of Leeds United exit agreed

Eintracht Frankfurt director Markus Krosche has admitted Leeds United defender Robin Koch is of interest this summer. Koch has been linked to a host of clubs following the Whites’ relegation from the Premier League and as it stands it appears highly unlikely that he will be staying at Elland Road beyond the closure of the transfer window.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have been rumoured to be interested in the Germany international, but there have also been reports that Koch would prefer a move back to the Bundesliga. Bayer Leverkusen and Frankfurt are two of the clubs mentioned and in the last 24 hours there have been suggestions of a deal in place between Koch and the latter.

With that in mind, it comes as little surprise to hear Krosche talking about the Leeds defender. While the director didn’t give much away, the mention of Koch might just be a telling sign.

“I don’t think it makes sense to comment on individual names,” Krosche told Sky Sport Deutschland, as per Sport Witness.

“And Robin Koch is also an interesting name – no question about it. But we are still at the beginning and there are still many issues that we want to tackle in the future.”

Koch has spent three seasons with the Whites after joining from Bundesliga outfit Freiburg in the summer of 2020, shortly after Leeds’ promotion to the top flight. He has made 73 Premier League appearances for the Whites and despite United being relegated, it’s fair to say last season was his strongest at Elland Road.

The defender has eight caps for the German national team but hasn’t represented his country since June 2021. However, he might see a switch to Frankfurt, who have qualified to compete in next season’s Europa Conference League, as a way to edge himself back into Hansi Flick’s thoughts.
