Didier Drogba's major Trent Alexander-Arnold snub over Chelsea star claim before England clash

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has claimed that Blues star Reece James is the "best right-back in the world" in response to the defender's recent Twitter Q and A. It comes amid competition between the 22-year-old and Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold for the starting right-back spot in the England team.

Unfortunately for James, he hasn't been able to stake his claim to that position for the World Cup finals in Qatar, having picked up an injury just before the tournament kicked off. It was a huge blow to his ambitions, taking to social media to discuss the difficulties: "Being motivated whilst being injured & missing the World Cup has been the hardest hurdle in my professional career.

"It’s been super tough, I can’t lie, but everything happens for a reason. The sun don’t stop for no one. We keep goin!" The Cobham academy graduate is expected to return in time for Chelsea's first game back from the World Cup break when they face off against Bournemouth.

As his recovery steps up, James took some time to answer fan questions on Twitter, one of which surrounding a player he wishes he could've played alongside: "I would have loved to play with @didierdrogba because I like getting forward and crossing. Then he’s one of the best strikers in history and scored amazing goals with his head. Perfect combo."

It was something that the former Chelsea striker saw, responding to his claim with: "Oh Gosh!! I KNOW we would have enjoyed it @reecejames!!! I always loved the connection with my wingbacks (Ashley, Ivanovic, Paulo …) #BestRightBackInTheWorld. Can’t wait to see back on the pitch."

While it's a shining tweet in response to James, it also shows where Drogba lays when it comes to the great right-back debate surrounding the Chelsea star and Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold. While neither have gotten involved in the debate, it is a constant between pundits and fans that will continue to circulate.
