Male exotic dancer Sharay Hayes, also known as “The Punisher,” testified about his “freak offs” with Sean “Diddy” Combs and Cassie Ventura on day seven of the music mogul’s trial.
Hayes said he first met Combs and Ventura at a Trump International Hotel and Tower in New York City. Hayes explained he didn’t recognize the pair at first and thought he was there to perform a striptease. But Ventura told him that “her and [her] husband liked to create a sexy scene” and handed him $800, he testified.
Hayes said he met the pair again eight to 12 times and eventually recognized them.
Ventura’s mother also testified Tuesday, claiming Combs threatened to release explicit footage of Cassie unless her family paid him $20,000. Regina Ventura took out a home equity loan to make the payment, she said, but the money was returned to her account several days later.
Rapper Kid Cudi, who dated Ventura in 2011, is expected to take the stand later this week.
Combs is facing sex trafficking, transportation to engage in prostitution, and racketeering conspiracy charges. Combs was arrested in September 2024 as federal authorities alleged he threatened, abused, and coerced victims “to fulfill his sexual desires” between 2004 and 2024. Combs has denied any accusations of wrongdoing.

Day seven recap: Jury hears testimony from Diddy's ex-assistant, Cassie Ventura's mother and others
20:41 , Katie HawkinsonThe seventh day of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s sex trafficking trial began with continued testimony from his former assistant, David James.
James worked for Combs from 2007 to 2009.
James recounted feeling afraid for his life while driving with Combs to a diner where he had spotted his rival, Suge Knight. Combs had three handguns with him as he rode in the backseat, James testified.
Cassie Ventura’s mother, Regina Ventura, testified next.
Regina said that Combs became angry when he discovered her daughter was dating rapper Kid Cudi in 2011. Combs then wanted to “recoup” the money he spent on Cassie and demanded $20,000 from her family, or else he’d release explicit footage of her, Regina testified.
Regina said she took out a home equity loan to make the payment. The money ended up back in Regina’s account a few days later, but Combs never spoke to her about it, she testified.
Sharay Hayes, a male exotic dancer known as “The Punisher,” then testified about his “freak offs” with Combs and Cassie.
Hayes said he never sensed any discomfort from Cassie, adding that he never saw Combs film her or hurt her.
The day ended with testimony from special agent Gerard Gannon, who helped raid Diddy’s Florida mansion last year.
Gannon testified that officials found AR-15 rifle parts, bottles of baby oil, sex toys and platform high heels inside a bedroom closet.
Court will resume with Gannon’s testimony tomorrow morning.
'Freak off' escort the 'Punisher' and Cassie Ventura's mother may take the stand
09:36 , James LiddellProsecutors said that Tuesday’s witnesses will include an alleged escort and exotic dancer known as “The Punisher,” Sharay Hayes, as well as Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura’s mother, Regina Ventura.
Without mentioning Hayes by name, Ventura testified last week that a man known as “The Punisher” participated in several drug-fueled marathon sex sessions known as“freak-offs” with her and Combs.
Combs’ former personal chef, Jourdan Atkinson, is also expected to be called to the stand Tuesday.
Recap: Dawn Richard and Kerry Morgan testify about Diddy abuse
09:48 , James LiddellMonday’s hearing began with more testimony from Dawn Richard, a singer who worked with Sean “Diddy” Combs and sued him for abuse last year.
Richard testified that she saw Combs attack his then-girlfriend Casandra “Cassie” Ventura with a skillet. Afterward, Richard said Combs told her not to say anything about the incident, telling her, “where he comes from, people go missing.”
But the defense tried to poke holes in Richard’s testimony, claiming her story on the skillet incident had changed and that she failed to tell prosecutors last year that Combs threatened her.
In response, Richard said she’s remembering the details “to the best of her ability.”
Meanwhile, formerly of Ventura’s closest friends, Kerry Morgan, testified that she saw Combs assault Ventura on multiple occasions. Morgan also testified that Combs assaulted her with a hanger in 2018. Ventura wasn’t supportive in the wake of the assault, Morgan said, which led to the end of their 17-year friendship.
The day ended with a few minutes of testimony from David James, Combs’s assistant from 2007 to 2009. James described gruelling 20-hour work days and became emotional when recalling a staff member once told him, “This is Mr. Combs’s kingdom, we’re all here to serve in it.”

In full: Cassie Ventura’s ex-best friend says Diddy paid her $30K to stay silent
09:58 , James LiddellKerry Morgan, the former best friend of Cassie Ventura, has told the Diddy trial how the music mogul choked her and beat her with a hanger in 2018 - and then offered her $30,000 in exchange for her silence.
The 39-year-old model was friends with Ventura from 2001 until 2018, and testified on Monday that Diddy, whose real name is Sean Combs, attacked her from behind and hit her around the head with the wooden coat hanger.
Morgan said she had been hanging out at Ventura’s house in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood of Los Angeles, listening to Ventura’s music, when Diddy barged in.
Ventura was in the bathroom and Morgan was in the living room when Diddy came up behind Morgan from behind, choked her and smacked her behind her right ear with a coat hanger, she testified. She said he left “fingermarks” on her neck. Diddy was concerned about who Ventura was cheating on him with; Morgan said she didn’t know.
She suffered a concussion as a result of the attack, she said.

Diddy's personal assistant to continue testimony later this morning
10:06 , James LiddellDavid James was Combs’ personal assistant between 2007 and 2009.
As he took the stand Monday afternoon, he testified of grueling 20-hour workdays, attempting to dissuade Cassie Ventura to “get out” and noting that one employee said that they were “all here to serve” the hip-hop mogul’s “kingdom.”
James is expected to return to the stand Tuesday, with testimony set to resume at about 9.30 a.m.
The prosecution has called a spate of other witnesses to take the stand Tuesday, including Ventura’s mother and an exotic dancer who was involved in Combs’ alleged “freak-offs.”
Who is the ‘The Punisher’?
10:19 , James LiddellProsecutors are expected to call an escort known as “The Punisher” to the stand on Tuesday. But who are they?
During her testimony last week, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura identified more than a dozen male sex workers allegedly hired by her then-boyfriend Sean Combs for his “freak-offs” in Las Vegas, Miami and Los Angeles.
One of them, she said, was nicknamed “The Punisher.” Their real name is Sharay Hayes, according to The New York Times.
Hayes, an exotic dancer, is expected to testify after Combs’ former personal assistant David James on Tuesday.

What did Dawn Richard say yesterday?
11:15 , James LiddellDawn Richard testified about the “traumatizing” conditions that came with working for Sean Combs and his violent tendencies towards his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
Richard, who was part of the Combs-founded girl group Danity Kane, told the jury that the rapper “would punch her (Ventura), choke her, drag her, slap her in the mouth.”
“I saw him kick her, punch her in the stomach,” she added.
Richard also recalled a 2009 incident, saying she witnessed Combs hit Ventura with a skillet. She testified that Ventura would hide her injuries with makeup.
At one point, Richard told the court that Combs previously told her he “owned” Ventura.
Richard says Combs told her to “stay the f*** out” of his relationship with Ventura or “something bad will happen to you.”
As Ventura allegedly waited for things to resolve, Richard told her she should leave.
“Cas looked torn,” she testified. “She would listen, but I could see the fear.”
Chilly morning outside Manhattan federal court
11:52 , Kelly RissmanIt’s pretty chilly in downtown Manhattan this morning. Some members of the public are posted up in foldable chairs at the front of the line. One has a sleeping bag and others have blankets.

ICYMI: Cassie's best friend alleges Combs assualted her with hanger
12:45 , James LiddellCasandra “Cassie” Ventura’s former best friend Kerry Morgan testified that she was assaulted by Combs in 2018. Afterward, Morgan said Ventura wasn’t supportive and ended her friendship with the singer.
“He came up behind me and choked me and left finger marks on my neck and hit me in the head with a wooden hanger," Morgan testified. "Cassie was in the bathroom, it hit me behind my right ear."
Morgan previously testified she witnessed Combs assaulting Ventura multiple times, adding that the music mogul controlled his then-girlfriend’s livelihood.
Diddy's ex-assistant is set to retake the stand. What did he testify yesterday?
13:38 , James LiddellDavid James is expected to return to the witness stand later this morning after giving a teary testimony on Monday.
James, who was a personal assistant for Sean Combs between 2007 and 2009, told jurors that the 55-year-old rapper thought Cassie Ventura was “young” and “moldable” when they first met in the noughties.
“‘I’ve got [Ventura] right where I want her, she’s young,’” James alleged Combs told him. “He said she was very moldable.”
James also testified about grueling 20-hour workdays and his suggestion to Cassie Ventura to “get out” of her relationship with Combs, which ended after more than a decade in 2018.
He also alleged that one employee said that they were “all here to serve” Combs and his “kingdom,” while pointing up at a picture of the hip-hop mogul on the wall.
The witness detailed some of his duties for Combs, which he said included setting up environments to make his boss feel “comfortable” and have “a successful day.” That included hotel rooms with “unique” lists of supplies.
We’re expecting to hear more from James on Tuesday morning, particularly about an alleged altercation between Combs and his personal chef.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs arrives in court
13:44 , James LiddellSean “Diddy” Combs has arrived in court, where he sat at the defense table wearing a dark sweater over a white shirt, as his sex-trafficking and racketeering trial moves into its seventh day of testimony.
What might Cassie Ventura's mom say in Tuesday’s testimony?
14:04 , James LiddellProsecutors have said that Regina Ventura’s testimony will focus on events that took place in December 2011 when her daughter, Cassie, returned to Connecticut and detailed Combs’ alleged threats and physical abuse, according to the Washington Post.
The elder Ventura may be probed about a $20,000 sum prosecutors say Combs demanded after Cassie began a relationship with rapper Kid Cudi.
The Post said the defense isn’t denying the hip-hop mogul demanded $20,000 from Cassie. Combs’ attorneys did, however, argue that the exchange isn’t relevant.
The mom did wire the money to Combs before it was returned shortly afterward.
The prosecution argues that the exchange indicates coercion and control that Combs exercised over Cassie during their relationship.

David James testifies he didn't see Diddy hit Cassie
14:42David James, who served as Sean “Diddy” Combs’s personal assistant from 2007 to 2009, said he never saw physical violence between the music mogul and Cassie Ventura.
James said he heard them argue multiple times, often because Ventura wanted to do more modeling and acting while Combs wanted her to focus on music.
David James says Diddy once searched his computer
14:50 , Katie HawkinsonDavid James said Sean “Diddy” Combs once caught him using a computer at his home and proceeded to look at the search history.
James, Combs’s former assistant, said Combs “bee-lined straight for me” after walking in the door and seeing him on the computer.
Combs was upset about a blog post that alleged he hit his then-girlfriend Cassie Ventura at a club, James testified. Combs said the post was a lie and wanted to know if James wrote it, the former assistant added.
James called the experience “jarring.”
James told the jury he looked for the post because Ventura had been staying at a London hotel and he noticed, while bringing her food, that Combs’s staff members were answering the door.
"I was surprised, I was expecting to see Cassie," James testified. "She usually answered the door."
David James describes Diddy's typical overnight bag
14:58 , Katie HawkinsonSean “Diddy” Combs’s ex-assistant David James told the jury what he typically packed in the music mogul’s overnight bag.

Diddy had ex-assistant David James take lie detector tests
15:02 , Katie HawkinsonDavid James said his then-boss Sean “Diddy” Combs had him take a lie detector test at least twice while working for him.
In the first incident, Combs brought in a former FBI agent who specialized in polygraph tests to interview James after some of his money went missing.
Combs then had James take a second test after one of his watches went missing.
"It was very intimidating," James testified. "I had never taken a lie detector test before."
James worked for Combs from 2007 to 2009.

15:14 , Katie HawkinsonDavid James said he once found Cassie Ventura unresponsive in a hotel room.
James said he was tasked with bringing an iPod to Sean “Diddy” Combs’s hotel room on a trip to Miami in 2008. When he entered, he saw Ventura lying on her back in the bed with the comforter pulled up to her chin.
“She did not move when I entered the room,” he said.
A man James didn’t know was also in the room while Combs was showering.
"I never spoke to them about it, I just thought they were doing personal things," James added. "I never had conversations with Cassie or Mr. Combs about their personal affairs."
David James recounts Suge Knight incident
15:25 , Katie HawkinsonSean “Diddy” Combs’s ex-assistant David James testified about an incident involving the music mogul’s rival, Suge Knight.

The two returned to Combs’s home and found him arguing with Cassie Ventura outside, James said.
After they revealed what happened, James said Combs ordered them to drive him to the diner to find his rival. Combs sat in the backseat with a gun, James testified. Knight was gone by the time they arrived.
James said he felt he was in danger during the incident.
"I was really shook up by it," James testified. "This was the first time as his assistant that I realized my life was in danger.
“I told them I want to leave but give six months notice so I could train the next assistant,” he added.
Ventura testified about the same incident last week, similarly telling the jury that Combs left his home to search for Knight while armed.
Defense tries to poke holes in David James's testimony
15:36David James is now being cross-examined by defense attorney Marc Agnifilo, who is pointing out inconsistencies in his previous statements about the Suge Knight incident.
Agnifilo said James previously told prosecutors the entire incident ended before he returned to Combs’s house. James responded that the government had instructed him not to say anything that could incriminate himself.
At another point, Agnifilo said James claimed the incident happened outside the diner, rather than inside as he testified today.
James said he didn’t remember making that claim.
“I think these are inaccurate notes,” James replied.
David James describes procuring drugs for Diddy's friends
15:47 , Katie HawkinsonDavid James said he obtained drugs for Sean “Diddy” Combs’s friends while working as his assistant.
The drugs included ecstasy and cocaine, James testified today. He recounted one incident in which Combs’s friend asked him to procure cocaine while in Saint-Tropez. Combs didn’t ask him directly, James said.

James told the jury there was a common saying among some of Combs’s staff: “You know what rhymes with tired: Fired.”
Defense questions ex-assistant on claim Diddy called Cassie 'moldable'
16:29Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo brought up David James’s testimony from yesterday that Sean “Diddy” Combs told him Cassie Ventura was “moldable” and “right where I want her, she’s young.”
James told Agnifilo that this conversation happened very early in Combs’s relationship with Ventura.
James worked from Combs from 2007 to 2009.

James said he “grabbed” her wrists and “squeezed” them, telling her to “stay in your...lane.”
Combs confronted him about it afterward, James testified.
"I told him what happened and he said, 'You can't put your hands on a woman,’” James testified.
Combs then asked him to write the chef a note and give her a gift, which he did, James said.
David James recalls concerns about potential 'false' police report for Diddy
16:44 , Katie HawkinsonDavid James testified that Sean “Diddy” Combs once got into a physical altercation with his then-personal chef, Jourdan Atkinson.
Combs then asked James to file a police report stating Atkinson hit him first, the ex-assistant testified.
But James didn’t file the report because he was concerned it would be false.
“I did not file it because I did not want to make a false report,” James said. “I went out and came back and told him I made the report."

"I was physically sick," Regina Ventura said. "I did not understand it, the sex tape threw me. He was trying to hurt my daughter."
Combs wanted $20,000 for the video, which Regina said she paid with a loan because she was “scared” for her daughter’s safety.
Regina said he was angry Cassie was with Kid Cudi and wanted to “recoup” the money he spent on her.
"We took a home equity loan and that was the only way we could get the money," she said.
The money ended up back in Regina’s account a few days later, but Combs never spoke to her about it, she testified.

“My understanding was we were creating a scene, a sexy scene, that was enjoyable to her partner,” Hayes testified.
Last week, Ventura testified that “freak offs” involved her having sex with another man at Combs’s direction.
Hayes said Combs gave Ventura directions during their encounters.
Hayes said he sometimes saw “a sigh” or “a wince” from Ventura about the frequency of Combs’s directions. Hayes also said he never heard Ventura refuse one of Combs’s directions.

19:04 , Katie HawkinsonMale exotic dancer Sharay Hayes said he never sensed that Cassie Ventura was uncomfortable during their “freak offs.”
“I did not get any cues that there was a discomfort with what was going on,” Hayes testified.
"It seemed like it was consensual as far as I was concerned," he added.
Hayes added that he has been an exotic dancer since 1995 and has experience sensing whether people are comfortable with his performances.
The dancer also testified that Combs never appeared intoxicated, and that he never saw him take drugs.

The search began around 3 p.m. Search warrants are typically executed earlier in the day, but investigators waited for Combs to leave that afternoon, Gannon said.
About 25 special response team members cleared the property to ensure it was safe before the search began. Gannon said the team members were prepared to potentially meet armed security guards.

Ventura testified last week that Combs lunged at her with a wine bottle opener after discovering emails between her and Mescudi’s staff.
From the courtroom: How Diddy reacts to witness testimony
20:30 , Kelly RissmanAs the seventh day of Sean “Diddy” Combs’s trial ends, it’s clear the music mogul is keeping a close eye on what’s happening.
Today, Combs wore a light blue sweater with a white collared shirt underneath. He was constantly speaking with his attorneys or passing them notes on colorful Post-its. He often whipped his head between the attorney and the witness testifying.
Combs also hugs his attorneys whenever he leaves or enters for the day.
