In the ongoing federal trial against Sean "Diddy" Combs in New York, where the music mogul faces serious charges of sex trafficking and organized crime, one particular testimony has captured national attention: that of his former personal assistant, David James, who brought up the names of former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
According to James, Combs frequently stayed at Trump's hotel in Manhattan, but it was another detail that truly stunned the courtroom—he claimed that Diddy used ecstasy pills shaped like Barack Obama's face.
James, who worked for Combs from 2007 to 2009, described the artist as always traveling with a toiletry bag containing 25 to 30 bottles of various medications. Among them were Percocet, Viagra, fertility supplements, and ecstasy pills—including one modeled after Obama's likeness.
Both The New York Post and The Daily Mail reported that Diddy was "obsessed" with Obama and had unsuccessfully tried to gain access to the former president's inner circle.
Disturbing Patterns of Abuse
While the pills themselves sparked controversy, prosecutors contend they form part of a broader pattern of control and abuse. They allege that Combs operated a systematic and coercive network of sexual exploitation for over two decades, leveraging his power in the music industry to manipulate women—often with the use of drugs—into non-consensual sex acts.
Singer Cassie Ventura, who dated Combs for over ten years, filed a civil suit against him in 2023, alleging physical, sexual, and emotional abuse throughout their relationship.
Ventura testified that Combs forced her to participate in so-called "freak offs"—sex parties that he organized, filmed, and later used as leverage to prevent her from leaving him.
Multiple witnesses have since come forward to support Ventura's account, including her mother, Regina Ventura, who told the court that Combs demanded $20,000 to keep compromising videos of her daughter private.
In another shocking claim, it was alleged that Combs attempted to intimidate rapper Kid Cudi, Ventura's former partner, going so far as to orchestrate the explosion of Cudi's car.
Diddy's Political Ties Under Scrutiny
The trial has also reignited public interest in Combs' long-standing ties to Democratic politicians. Over the years, Diddy has expressed vocal support for figures like Barack Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris.
In 2004, he launched Citizen Change, a campaign aimed at increasing voter turnout among young people and minority communities.
But there's no proof that Obama or any other politician knew about or took part in the crimes being discussed in court.
As the trial unfolds, more witnesses are expected to testify in the coming days. Combs has denied all allegations and pleaded not guilty. If convicted, he faces the possibility of life in prison.
