Did Trump Actually Draw This Naked Lady As A Birthday Present To Jeffrey Epstein?

A copy of a controversial birthday message that Donald Trump allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein has now been made public by Congress — and the note’s existence is shaking up an argument the US president has tried to shut down for months.

What’s in the Trump Epstein letter?

On September 8 (local time), the House Oversight Committee released an image of a letter and drawing said to be from Trump, both originally compiled for Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003. The image shows several lines of typewritten text framed inside a hand‑drawn silhouette of a woman. Printed beneath the illustration is a single word signature: “Donald”, scrawled below the drawing’s waistline.

The alleged conversation between Trump and Epstein in the letter reads: “We have certain things in common, Jeffrey.”

Epstein’s supposed reply: “Yes, we do, come to think of it.”

Trump adds: “Enigmas never age, have you noticed that?”

Epstein answers: “As a matter of fact, it was clear to me the last time I saw you.”

The message closes with the words: “Happy Birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret.”

This page was submitted to Congress by lawyers for Epstein’s estate, appearing as part of a ‘birthday book’ originally assembled by Epstein’s friends. Its release comes after months of legal wrangling and fresh attention on the management of material tied to the disgraced financier.

Trump’s response and denials

Donald Trump has responded by forcefully denying ever creating the letter or the drawing. After the original Wall Street Journal report in July, Trump insisted, “This is not me. This is a fake thing. It’s a fake Wall Street Journal story. I never wrote a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women…It’s not my language. It’s not my words.”

Trump has since filed a $10 billion (around $15.2 billion) defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal and its parent company, News Corp, arguing that the publication has “maliciously and falsely” tied him to the letter.

White House deputy chief Taylor Budowich posted on X that the letter doesn’t feature Trump’s real signature, sharing images of Trump’s current signature as proof.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt backed up this denial on Monday, claiming: “President Trump did not create this illustration, nor did he sign it.”

Leavitt described the letter and its release as “false news” and repeated that Trump’s team would pursue legal action.

Why doubts remain

Trump’s denials have fuelled a flurry of debate, especially after internet users and journalists found old Trump doodles sold at auction, some of them charity sketches signed simply “Donald”, others more elaborate works from the early 2000s — the same era as the letter in question. Trump also admitted in his own book that “each year, I donate an autographed doodle to the Doodle for Hunger auction at Tavern on the Green”.

The letter’s authenticity is hotly disputed, with Republicans arguing the signature doesn’t match Trump’s established autograph, while critics lean on numerous personal letters and auctioned doodles that use a similar style and flourish, especially in informal settings or notes to friends.

Where things stand now

Congress now holds an original copy of the 2003 birthday book, supplied straight from Epstein’s estate, which significantly raises the stakes in the authenticity argument. Trump maintains the letter is fabricated — his allies say the signature is suspect, while the release itself continues to add pressure for the full Epstein files to be publicly disclosed, names redacted.

For all the drama, the letter’s authorship may not change the broader questions around Trump’s historical ties to Epstein, or the curious choices taken in responding to this scandal. As for the document itself, its existence is confirmed — and its impact still unfolding.
