Did Titans really call this wild play against the Jaguars?

The Tennessee Titans are pulling out all the stops to try and upset the Jacksonville Jaguars on Saturday night, including possibly calling passing plays that involve the receiver catching the ball and throwing a cross-field lateral.

During the first quarter of the do-or-die game, Titans quarterback Josh Dobbs completed a pass to rookie wide receiver Treylon Burks, who then proceeded to attempt to lateral the ball while being tackled, with it eventually ending up in the arms of running back Jonathan Ward.

At first it looked like a random, desperation flip up in the air that was a bad decision no matter how you slice it, but if you look to the top left of the screen you can see Ward seemingly in position to receive a better attempt from Burks.

The Titans wide receiver was flagged for an illegal forward pass, negating the play.

A 10 out of 10 for creativity if it was designed, but a 0 out of 10 for timing and execution. This is a play you try in the preseason or in a game that means less than the one the Titans are playing in against the Jaguars.

But, hey, that’s just me.
