Dick and Angel Strawbridge leave France for UK in new career move after Channel 4 axe

Dick and Angel Strawbridge have left France for a tour of the UK in a career change after being axed by Channel 4.

The Escape to the Chateau stars were dropped by the broadcaster following an independent investigation into the couple’s conduct on the show, after production company Two Rivers Media raised concerns.

The husband-and-wife duo reportedly clashed with producers during filming, and an expletive-laden audio recording of Angel calling a producer a “f***ed up little c**t” was later leaked, shocking fans of the long-running show.

Now, Dick and Angel are heading to the UK for an upcoming stop on their book tour, and have seemingly put their strained relationship with Channel 4 and Two Rivers behind them as they focus on a new career path.

The couple will be returning in October, and it will mark the first time they’ve been in the country since Channel 4 cut ties with them.

“We are giddy with excitement to announce we are coming to the UK to celebrate 'A Good Old-Fashioned Book Launch',” they wrote on their joint Instagram account on Thursday.

“Please join us live this autumn for two exclusive and intimate evenings at The Bristol Hippodrome, 22nd October 2023 and The London Barbican, 23rd October 2023,” they added, as they revealed their children Arthur and Dorothy will also be appearing alongside them.

“We'll all be reading extracts from the book, chatting about the creative process of putting pen to paper, sharing memories, funny tales, and pictures that didn't make it to print,” Dick and Angel added.

Fans of the couple shared their excitement to see them back in the UK, with one commenting: “Best of luck to you all, a wonderful family, looking forward to reading your book.”

In an official statement in May, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said they had conducted a review into the allegations made by Two Rivers Media, and took the decision to “not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.”

The couple released a statement after the news of the fallout emerged, and said they had already decided to end their working relationship with Channel 4 in December last year.

“We know there are lots of stories in the press right now. It's not worth us even trying to comment or give context, because anything can be made into a good headline. We understand. There are two sides to every story and from the incredible support we have received, most of you know that,” they wrote.
