Anne Hathaway has spoken out to clarify claims that people were “fired” from Devil Wears Prada 2 amid a push for better size inclusivity and representation.
The actor will return as Andie Sachs, the former, long-suffering assistant of magazine editor Miranda Priestly, when the long-awaited sequel arrives in cinemas next month.
But while the Ozempic era appears to have ushered in a return to heroin chic, with catwalks at real-life fashion weeks seemingly signalling that the body positivity era is well and truly behind us, the Devil Wears Prada team sought to ensure their film is more representative.
However, Hathaway has assured fans that the push for inclusivity did not result in anyone losing their job on the sequel’s set.
During an appearance on Good Morning America, Hathaway explained: “It was just this kind of quick thing that happened on set and now it’s become a much bigger story.
“And actually, I do want to mention, there’s a little misinformation getting out there right now that people were fired because of the size inclusivity and that just didn’t happen. Nobody lost their jobs, in fact, it created more jobs.”
Teasing one particular moment, Hathaway added: "It's so hard because I can't say what the scene is about, but there's a song that Lady Gaga wrote and it's a beautiful, amazing song. Isn't it better when you see so many different types of bodies up there with that?"
Hathaway will be back on the big screen alongside original co-stars including Meryl Streep, who played the formidable Priestly, and Emily Blunt, who delivered countless one-liners as the workaholic assistant Emily Charlton.
Streep previously revealed that the film’s crew made a concerted effort to feature models of different shapes and sizes on its fictional catwalks after the cast attended Milan Fashion Week in 2025.

The 76-year-old told Harper’s Bazaar in March that she was “struck by how not only beautiful and young [...] but alarmingly thin the models were”.
“Annie clocked it too,” Streep added, “and she made a beeline to the producers about it, securing promises that the models in the show that we were putting together for our film would not be so skeletal! She’s a stand-up girl.”
Devil Wears Prada 2 will see Streep’s Priestly – a thinly-veiled version of real-life Vogue editor Anna Wintour – attempting to steer Runway magazine through the decline of print publishing while her formerly loyal first assistant, Emily, works for a luxury brand.
Sachs, who was last seen defiantly choosing her own path in the closing moments of the original movie, will return to Runway as features editor. Alongside the central trio, Stanley Tucci will reprise his role as Miranda’s right-hand man, Nigel Kipling.
