PM urges BJP district panchayat members to work for development at grassroot level

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday urged the BJP members of district panchayats to help turn the government’s development initiatives into a mass movement that will reach every district, tehsil and village across the country, as part of the effort to make India a “developed nation” by 2047.

In a virtual address to the party’s members of district panchayats from Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra, the PM asserted that every village of every district in the country must experience development and progress. He urged them to live by the slogan of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas (inclusive growth with collective efforts)“, and work towards development at the grassroot level.

The conclave is being held at Dadar and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. BJP president J.P. Nadda was present at the event during the PM’s address.

‘Prioritise local development’

Citing his own experience first as a Chief Minister and then as Prime Minister, Mr. Modi said that those serving in different positions at local bodies should take up some work for their villages and districts as a priority, and go all out to make it a success by getting the support of the people and local residents.

He told the gathering that the Centre has increased its grants to the panchayats from ₹70,000 crore to ₹3 lakh crore since 2014. The PM recounted the impact of various development initiative, such as building toilets in the villages and opening bank accounts for the poor, which have led to inclusive growth.
