Devastated Emma Faulds pals to hold candlelit vigil tonight as cops hunt for body

Friends of the missing Kilmarnock woman Emma Faulds have issued an emotional plea for a candlelit vigil to be held in her honour.

Members of the  public are being asked to light a candle, wherever they are, at 7pm tonight to be respect to "beautiful Emma" who was "taken in her prime".

Police have been searching woodlands in the border between South Ayrshire and the Dumfries and Galloway in an attempt to locate the 39-year-old's body.

Emma was last seen at around 9.10pm on Sunday, April 28 in Monkton in Ayrshire.

A major search operation and social media campaign was launched in a bid to find her in the fortnight since then.

Pal Kelly McMi is urging others to take part in the tribute.

She wrote: "I would like to ask if it would be ok to have a candle night, for Emma Faulds.

"Everyone light a candle at a window on Sunday night at 7pm to show respect.

"Can all my Facebook friends & family please do this and share it far and wide.

"This beautiful lassie's life was taken in her prime".

Emma Faulds: Police extend search in attempt to locate body

Kilmarnock pub The Tartan Sheep has backed the plans, telling customers on Twitter: "We will have a candle lit at the bar today and candles lit at our windows at 7pm to remember Emma Faulds.

"Please contact the police if you have any information that could help with their inquiries."

On Friday we told how detectives were keen to trace the movements of a vehicle on the A714 Girvan to Newton Stewart road on Monday and Tuesday, April 29 and 30.

They are particularly interested in sightings of Jaguar and Mercedes type vehicles.

Detective Chief Inspector Martin Fergus said: "This is a harrowing time for Emma’s family. They are in shock and are in the process of dealing with the fact that Emma will not be coming home.

"I am therefore seeking the public’s help in trying to find Emma’s body.

“I am appealing for anyone who may have been travelling along the A714, either north or south between Girvan and Newton Stewart."

He continued: "Did you see something a little odd or out of place, perhaps you noticed a car in a lay by, do you remember anything which struck you as odd at the time?

"I am also keen to speak to anyone who travels this route regularly, northbound or southbound.

"If any motorists have dash cams, please check the footage as it may have captured something which could prove vital to our ongoing enquiries to locate Emma."
