Destiny 2 Reset Update: Final Override, Expunge Labyrinth, Lakshmi Plots

Destiny 2 Bungie

Destiny 2 is back with another weekly reset, and this early in the season, that means at least some things are happening. In this case, the major events of the week are the launch of the final Override mission on the Tangled Shore, and the arrival of the new weekly “pinnacle quest” Expunge, so we can figure out what…that is.

I’ll start with Expunge because that’s the biggest arrival of the bunch. It’s…interesting, I suppose. It is not an elaborate mission like Harbinger or Presage, nor does it seem to immediately have an exotic tied to it. There are multiple variants of it, and this week that is the “Labyrinth” version, a twisty digital maze that requires a lot of jumping around and very little fighting.

I would probably describe this as a cross between the Braytech Exo Challenges and the weekly Interference quest from arrivals. This one was easy to solo, and minimum power was only 1290. You are racing against time, but only for a triumph, it’s not mandatory.

Destiny 2 Bungie

I got two new gauntlet upgrades that gave me more gravity cannons to launch from (some kept bugging out and insta-killing me) and the final upgrade gave me more platforms to land on. Occasionally you will have to jump around with a data spike, and the final boss had you dunk spikes to take down his shields. He was not terribly difficult besides that. I didn’t do it in under 10 minutes for the triumph, but it was my first run and I don’t imagine it will be hard. There was really no story tied to this other than Mithrax thinks he sees something “unusual” lurking in there that Splicers hadn’t seen before. Supposedly running this is how we end the endless night simulation in the Tower.

The final Override mission contains no real surprises. The two races are Vex and Scorn, and the Scorn have no champion so they have borrowed Overload Minotaurs as theirs. The new boss is a giant Hydra and goes down more quickly than any of the others because of how fast you can get through its immunity phases, which is saying something, considering how easy the other bosses are already.

We have the final new Nightfall weapon arriving today, the D1 sniper, but I think what most people are excited about is the refresh of Vault of Glass rewards so everyone can run that again for more drops and a chance at Mythoclast.

In patch news, the Firefly perk has been re-enabled from the seasonal mod, Star-Eater Scales got a nerf (only applies to supers now, need eight orbs not four for full bonus), and the Sundering Blast mod no longer glitches out Overload champions.

As for story, Lakshmi says she is forming an alliance with Mithrax, who is eager to please her, but she broadcasts a message to the city saying we can’t trust the Fallen. In the new lore page from this week, she and Executor Hideo try to convince the leader of Dead Orbit to participate in a coup to overthrow Ikora and Zavala, installing instead Saint-14 or someone else in their place (it’s not clear Saint even knows about this). Dangerous times.

So, a lot to get started on this week. See you out there.
