Euan Stevenson: Desperate search for Edinburgh backpacker who vanished nearly a week ago in Melbourne

A desperate search has been launched to find a missing Edinburgh backpacker who vanished nearly a week ago.

Euan Stevenson had been travelling and working abroad in Australia for two years and had been due to return home to Edinburgh in less than three weeks when he disappeared.

The 24-year-old was last seen on the morning of Wednesday 4 March at a Coles store in Melborune.

Police say he used his phone to make a purchase at the store but records indicate he has not touched his bank account since.

According to nine.com.au, he had been due to work at 3pm on the day he disappeared but never showed up.

His family have expressed concern for Euan, insisting that it is out of character for him not to stay in touch.

His sister Joanne Stevenson has now taken to social media in a heartfelt appeal, writing: "Euan, if you see this, please make contact with anyone and know that we love and care for you so much, we just want to know you are safe."

Adding in a second post: "Euan has now been missing for four days, we are all worried sick and just want to know that he is ok.

"Please keep sharing this post far and wide, on any platform you can to help us find Euan."
