DeSean Jackson signing with Raiders following release by Rams

DeSean Jackson was released by the Los Angeles Rams earlier this week after the team was unable to find a trade partner for the veteran wideout. After clearing waivers and having an opportunity to consider his options, Jackson has elected to stay out West and join the Las Vegas Raiders.

Jackson signed with the Rams in the offseason, reuniting him with Sean McVay, who was the offensive coordinator in the nation’s capital when Jackson was in Washington. The 34-year-old wide receiver would spend only seven games with Los Angeles before being a healthy scratch in Week 8 due to both sides agreeing to move on.

Throughout his seven games with the Rams, Jackson totaled only eight receptions for 221 yards and a touchdown. The emergence of Van Jefferson, along with the heavy usage for Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods, led to Jackson’s role in the offense declining.

Upon Jackson’s release from Los Angeles, Las Vegas was immediately considered a landing spot, especially with the unfortunate news surrounding Henry Ruggs. Jackson will be joining a Raiders team that fell to 5-3 in Week 9 following a disappointing loss to the New York Giants on the road.
