Derrycoole Park Newtownabbey home ransacked by masked men in sectarian hate crime

A Co Antrim home was ransacked by masked men in a sectarian attack, police have said.

The four men broke into the Derrycoole Park home in Newtownabbey on Wednesday, April 10.

No one was inside the house at the time but it is understood the house was completely ransacked and a number of windows damaged.

It is being treated as a sectarian motivated hate crime.

Sergeant Adair said: "At around 11:05pm, it was reported that four masked men entered a house in the area. It is believed the property was completely ransacked during the incident, including a number of windows damaged. No one was inside the property during the incident.

"Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1570 10/4/19. Alternatively, information can also be provided  to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
