Derry Girls creator reveals hilarious episode idea that will now sadly never air

Derry Girls creator Lisa McGee has shared some of the unseen scenes she wrote for the show that will now never air as the final series comes to an end.

The writer took to Twitter to tell fans of the stories that didn't make it into filming that she wrote for the unforgettably unique characters.

With the final series now already halfway through, people were delighted to get a further insight into the programme, even if they would never get to see the scripts play out on screen.

Lisa said: "In the run up to the end of Derry Girls I want to share some stories that didn't make it. Number 1: Erin writes a reimagined version of Romeo and Juliet which she thinks is mind blowingly original ( Juliet is a catholic and Romeo is a Protestant) The…

"…casting is decided by a class vote. Orla bags the role of Romeo and Erin is horrified when the role of Juliet goes to ….Drum roll please Sister….Jenny Joyce…"

The tweet instantly gained traction online with over 150 retweets as people questioned if they could read the script for the scenes that didn't make the cut.

They said: "That's incredible. Did you ever write that script? If so could we pretty please read it?"

To which Lisa replied: "I'd love to share all the scenes at some point In the future when I have time if the fans want to see them".

Others asked if it could be a hint that a Derry Girls movie or another season could be on the cards.

They said: "Is this a hint at a movie / another season? So much material for more. Last nights episode was sheer class. The Pippa reference had me buckled over laughing".

Another said: "Is there anything in the world we can do to get you to write a fourth (and more) season?"

While others shared their own ideas on what kind of storylines they would love to see from the cast.

One person said: "I'm dying to see the older ones as weans in the 1960s/70s, you know, Mary and Gerry getting together, Sarah and Mary's pregnancies producing 'twin' cousins, life with their Ma there, middle-aged Joe and Colm... Maybe we should have a fan fiction site for all this!"

A second suggested a spin off show were the cast head to university.

They said: "Derry Girls go to Uni? Queens and Jordanstown, bedsits in the Holy Land."

To which, another fan replied: "That would be class!!! Episodes also in the Bogside, Portstewart, Garvagh and the Ardoyne; for the craic Sr Michael might be a college chaplain and uncle Colm a volunteer Samaritan for college disability services. Can't get rid of the rest of the cast. They are too perfect".
