Derry City's nod to community streets in this year's away kit

Derry City FC recently unveiled their new 2022 away kit.

Derry City’s away shirt for the 2022 League of Ireland season is a striking blue shirt with a map of the city included in its fabric.

This light blue colour is a striking change from the usual red and white candystripe kit that fans are used to seeing the Derry City team in.

Derry City alongside O'Neills have created this incredibly special kit to pay homage to the homegrown support that has stood by the team over the years.

The slogan used with the shirt is "Our Streets. Our City. Our Club." as a nod to the tight knit nature of the community and the generations of street footballers that have grown up and played for Derry City over the years.

The shirt and its map of the city also alludes to the Ryan McBride Brandywell stadium, surrounded by the streets of the Brandywell and then leading out to the Bogside, to Creggan and to the wider city.

The 2022 shirt also brings the streets of their fans to the forefront. It is a tribute, as their fans come from these streets and further afield, every week to see the Candystripes play in the League of Ireland, the FAI Cup or indeed in European football.
