Dermot O'Leary's sweet message about Alison Hammond after hosting This Morning with Holly Willoughby

Dermot O'Leary made sure to show love to his co-host Alison Hammond as they were reunited on-screen for their usual stint at the helm of This Morning. The pair have been hosts of the Friday edition of the ITV daytime show since the start of 2021 when they were chosen to take over from Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langford.

But this week, viewers have got used to seeing Dermot alongside Holly Willoughby. The TV and radio presenter was previously drafted in to cover for Holly alongside Alison last month after it was revealed that Phillip Schofield had quit the popular daytime show after more than 20 years amid rumours of a 'feud' with his former co-host.

However, he later stepped back from ITV altogether after admitting to lying to Holly and his employers about a relationship with a much younger ITV colleague. Following her two-week break amid the fallout from Phillip's admission, Holly, 42, addressed the scandal head on in a statement read out live on air as she was supported by fellow This Morning star Josie Gibson.

Holly later co-hosted the show with Craig Doyle after ITV confirmed early on that the 42-year-old would remain at the forefront of the programme alongside other "members of the This Morning family".

And on Monday (June 12), it was Dermot's turn to take the seat alongside Holly. As they kicked off the show, the pair reflected on how they have not worked together on the show since 2014 when Dermot filled in as a presenter before the former X Factor star confirmed he'd be alongside Holly for two weeks.

But on Friday, normality did resume as Dermot was back alongside Alison. Before they appeared on screens, 50-year-old Dermot took to Instagram with a snap of himself and Alison, 48. Taking on the set of the show at the ITV studios, Alison beamed for the camera as her co-star held onto her hand and gave it a kiss.

"Back with my Brummie Queen today," BBC Radio 2 star Dermot captioned the post and it wasn't long before fans were leaving their comments as they shared their joy at seeing the pair back together.

@bee85913 demanded: "You n Alison belong together. Move this couple to four days a week and give Holly the Friday slot." @rubyredvintageuk said: "You two are the best!" @kavanaghsam54 wrote: "Absolutely love these two together- perfect combo."

@jax_colqu commented: "You guys are just a joy to watch happy Friday." @siobhan_o_flynn replied: "The best duo #dreamteam." @gursharonbird posted: "Favourites!! Give them the full week." @neveranamanda added: "Dream team. Should be on everyday tbh."
