Derek McInnes reacts to Youssef Chermiti's injury news, makes transfer hint

Derek McInnes has reacted to the injury diagnosis of Youssef Chermiti, expressing his "disappointment" over the striker's long-term setback.

The Rangers manager was asked about the 22-year-old following the confirmation of an ACL injury, which is set to rule him out for a "significant" amount of time, according to the club.

Regarding the ex-Everton forward, McInnes said at his press conference, "Really disappointed for ourselves; he is a big part of what we wanted to do.

"For Youssef, he is very young, and it will be difficult for him to accept it. Such is life; one moment you're flying high and the next you have to face this.

"He is on his way to London to see a specialist and hopefully next week go through his operation. A real tough one for the bow and the club. The only saving grace is it's happened in the window, and we have a chance to react to that.

"The plan was to keep him, but the club rejected a big number. It's done, and the plan was for him to be a big part for us."
