Derbyshire logistics firm set to move into huge new distribution centre

New jobs are on their way to a growing Derbyshire business park after the developer handed over the latest large warehouse unit to be completed at the site.

Garner Holdings, the company behind Denby Hall Business Park, has also announced plans to build even more commercial space at the site.

The latest firm to take space at the business park at Denby is logistics firm Lockwood Haulage.

Work on its purpose-built 110,000 sq ft distribution centre began after it signed a pre-let agreement with Garner last year.

Building work has now been completed and Lockwood, which is based at Belper, is looking to move in this month, creating a number of new jobs as part of its expansion plans.

Neil Harris of Harris Lamb, sole agent for the business park, said: “We are delighted that we’re in a position to hand over this distribution centre to Lockwood.

“It’s a fantastic 'built-to-suit' office and warehouse. It will allow the business to expand its operation, which is superb news for the region.

“Denby Hall Business Park has a reputation for being a premier, high-tech commercial location within the East Midlands, benefiting from high-specification office and industrial space with excellent logistics links.”

The latest letting has given Garner Holdings the confidence to speculatively build more space at the business park.

Mr Harris said: “There has been a high demand for commercial property within the region for some time - and Denby Hall and Garner Holdings are responsive to that need.

“So much so, that over the next few months, Garner plans to speculatively build a 20,000 sq ft warehouse at the business park to encourage more firms to locate themselves in the region.

“The past few years have seen a number of forward-thinking companies site themselves at the park to establish a base for their international business - and its success within the East Midlands is second-to-none.

“We’re confident, given the number of enquiries about the site, that we will have a number of interested parties keen to take on the new unit.

Construction work on the new building is expected to start in August further to planning permission being obtained.
