Derby aerospace firm Gardner lands glut of new contracts

A Derby firm which manufactures and supplies aerospace components has landed a brace of new contracts.

Gardner Aerospace, which has its head office at Victory Park, in Victory Road, has announced deals with GKN Aerospace and Airbus.

The firm, which also has sites in France, Poland, India and China, is a leading supplier of aerospace detailed parts and sub-assemblies. It carries out work for a number of big name aerospace companies.

In terms of GKN Aerospace, Gardner has landed three new deals with the firm.

One of them is to supply engine pylon secondary structure sub-assemblies. Work on this project will be carried out at the company’s facilities in Derby and Hull, Mazeres (France) and Mielec and Tczew (both Poland).

It will also supply GKN with shroud box sub-assemblies with the work due to take place at Gardner’s facilities in Derby, Mielec and Tczew, as well as wingtip and winglet navigation light housings out of its Mazeres and Tczew operations.

Dominic Cartwright, chief executive at Gardner Aerospace, said: “I’m thrilled to be able to announce these new multi-million long-term awards for a range of aircraft programmes, which also sees new approvals being gained by our operations in Mazeres and Tczew thus broadening the company’s scope of customer and process offerings.”

Gardner Aerospace has also secured several new contracts with aircraft-maker aircraft, which total £55 million.

The deals include work packages resulting from Airbus’s D2P (detailed parts partner) commodity-based consolidation programme and are for both machined and sheet metal products.

Mr Cartwright said: “Airbus named Gardner Aerospace as one of only eight leading suppliers of detailed parts in 2018, an accolade we are extremely proud of.

“These new deals prove the strength of our relationship and it’s great to see Airbus showing so much confidence in our business, particularly as we start to plan operations with their support in China.

“We always seek feedback from our clients to understand how we can better meet their needs in the future. These repeat deals with Airbus prove that approach is working very well.”
