DeMar DeRozan was a great sport after losing to a young camper in knockout

It’s that time of the offseason:

NBA stars are holding their basketball camps across the country, which means young basketball fans have the opportunity to embarrass (or more likely get embarrassed by) their favorite NBA players.

In the battle of San Antonio Spurs guard DeMar DeRozan versus a young camper, though, the youngster came away victorious.

DeRozan recently held his basketball camp at the Mamba Sports Academy in Newbury Park, Calif., and as part of the camp festivities, campers took on DeRozan in a game of knockout. First off, I must say that knockout is a great game — I’ll never turn down an opportunity to play knockout. But most of all, watch this young camper take down an actual NBA player in the schoolyard game.

For much of the game, DeRozan understandably thought he had the contest won. When he wasn’t knocking down shots, he was beating his competitor’s shot with a dunk. But when one of his shots took a wild bounce off the rim, a camper responded with a clutch make to knock DeRozan out.

But wait for his reaction.

When the game was done, he lifted the victorious camper up like a recreation of the Lion King.

Sportsmanship matters … even when you lose to kids in knockout.
