Delivery horror stories revealed after woman's package shredded by dog

ECHO readers described packages left in the rain, delivered to random addresses and even launched through a living room window after we asked for your horror stories.

The question came after the story of Brogan Griffiths, who ordered three dresses to be delivered in time for her birthday celebrations - only for the parcel to be thrown over her fence by the delivery driver, and destroyed by her dog.

ECHO readers on Facebook had similar stories of less than diligent delivery drivers, when asked where was the strangest place a package had been left.

More than one frustrated online shopper described issues with packages left in wheelie bins.

Jan Berrington said: "In the bin that was taken away by bin men before we saw the card to say where it had been put!"

Allan Morris said: "In the bin, whilst the rubbish truck was on the street only a few houses away.

"I was actually home but they didn't knock on the door, just put it in the bin, and I lost my stuff. If I buy rare collectables again I have them delivered to work"

Heather Parry said: "[The company] sent a pic saying they had 'posted my new 14 piece pan set' though the letter box but had actually put in it my wheelie bin, as said on the note he left in my door, on bin day an it had been collected by the bin men."

Other issues included packages left at other addresses without the driver bothering to let the owner know.

Jacqui Jones said: "In next door neighbours garden their daughter’s playhouse! No card left either to say we’re they had left it!"

Karen Jackson said: "I had a delivery of suits for my boys for mine and their dads wedding 'delivered'.

"Delivered to a completely different estate and he couldn’t remember which house. Luckily the power of Facebook and the local community got them back to us."

Phil Crawley said: "In the next Village, I was in the house watched him stop look around and drive off, by the time I got my legs into gear he was gone, there are seven houses all in a row in our village."

Other commenters described drivers making far less than minimal effort to safely deliver their packages.

Lin Bashford posted: "My parcel came through the letter box and smashed my ceramic tiles. My son is a mechanic, he ordered a tool that was very heavy. Was not happy."
