Delhi Capitals' Arundhati Reddy fined for breaching Women's Premier League code of conduct

NEW DELHI: Delhi Capitals' pacer Arundhati Reddy has been fined 10% of her match fees for breaching the Women's Premier League (WPL) code of conduct during the match against UP Warriorz.

The incident occurred during Delhi Capitals' emphatic nine-wicket victory over the Warriorz at the Chinnaswamy Stadium.

A statement from the WPL confirmed the penalty, stating, "Arundhati Reddy from Delhi Capitals has been fined 10% of her match fees for breaching the WPL Code of Conduct during her team's match against UP Warriorz at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Monday."

Reddy admitted to a Level 1 Offence under Article 2.5 of the WPL's Code of Conduct, which pertains to using language, actions, or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon her dismissal during a match.

The statement further clarified, "For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee's decision is final and binding," without providing additional details.

During the match, Reddy claimed the wicket of lower-order batter Poonam Khemnar. The Delhi Capitals' bowlers, led by Radha Yadav's exceptional figures of 4/20, restricted the Warriorz to 119/9.

In their chase, Delhi Capitals comfortably reached the target, losing just one wicket in 14.4 overs, with opener Meg Lanning scoring 51 and Shafali Verma remaining unbeaten with a blistering 64-run knock.
