Deion Sanders has interest to join FSU coach Willie Taggart's staff

SHREVEPORT, La. _ New Florida State coach Willie Taggart could be adding a "Prime Time" addition to his Seminoles coaching staff.

Taggart and former FSU standout and NFL Hall of Famer Deion Sanders have "mutual interest" for Sanders to become the Seminoles' new defensive backs coach, according to a Wednesday report by 247Sports.

"You never know," Sanders said during an ESPN sideline interview during the Independence Bowl.

"I've been known to make big plays with these colors on. That's all I'm gonna say."

Taggart posted a photo of himself and Sanders on Twitter before the game. Sanders spent most of the game on the sidelines, and even shared some pointers with FSU's defensive backs when they came off the field.

Taggart and Sanders are in an "early discussion phase," according to the report.

While Sanders lacks coaching experience, outside of the high school level, his playing pedigree and Prime Time allure maintained after his playing career could pay dividends for the Seminoles on the recruiting trail among blue-chip recruits.

Taggart has already added four new assistant coaches to his new staff: Donte Pimpleton will coach running backs, Telly Lockette will coach tight ends, Robert Woodie will be a defensive assistant and interim coach Odell Haggins will coach the defensive line.
