Dean Shiels ref rant as ex Rangers star's blistering blast at officials captured on camera

Kenny Shiels had his fair share of run-ins with officials during his time managing in Scotland with Kilmarnock.

And son Dean has shown he’s a chip off the old block after footage emerged of a furious referee blast.

Shiels, who played for Hibs, Kilmarnock, Rangers and Dunfermline in Scotland, is currently in charge of Dungannon Swifts.

And the 37-year-old lost his rag during a 1-0 by Carrick Rangers in the NIFL Premiership play-off at the weekend.

Shiels was furious with a challenge on one of his players and went ballistic on the touchline as he gave the fourth official both barrels.

The former Northern Ireland international could be heard screaming: “He's just kicked him right in the head. He's f*****g kicked him right in the head."

But the opposition dug-out didn’t quite agree with his take on the challenge, urging him to calm down and to “wise up, son”.

Shiels, though, was having none of it and said: "He kicked him. Maybe in the neck.

"Ref, ref, you know it's him. He's already booked and he's bluffing. It's at least a yellow, maybe a red.”

Shiels Snr is now manager of the Northern Ireland women's international team.

He led Kilmarnock to a shock League Cup final win over Celtic during his time in charge at Rugby Park where Dean played under him.

Dean, capped 14 times for his country, is in his first managerial position after ending his playing days with Coleraine in 2019.
