Dean Henderson 'stumbling block' claimed amid Nottingham Forest transfer pursuit

Nottingham Forest are being faced with a "stumbling block" in their pursuit of Dean Henderson according to a report.

The goalkeeper impressed during his loan spell at the City Ground last season having made vital saves for the Reds earlier in the campaign before picking up a season-ending injury in January.

Forest responded to Henderson's injury by signing former Real Madrid shot-stopper Keylor Navas on-loan. The Costa Rican also had an impressive impact but will be returning to his parent club Paris Saint-Germain.

With Navas and Henderson's loan spells coming to an end, it leaves Forest with a goalkeeping dilemma as Wayne Hennessey will be the only senior option at the club. The Reds are keen to fix this by signing Henderson on a permanent deal this summer.

But The Athletic claim that although signing Henderson is a "priority" a "stumbling block remains agreeing a fee with United". It is claimed that the shot-stopper is "valued in the region of £25million" and would command wages of "around £90k a week."

Forest boss Steve Cooper has previously spoken about how he enjoyed working with Henderson. “We’ve all enjoyed working with Dean, the personality that he is,” he said shortly after his injury.

“He’s a good professional; really cares. He has a fantastic mentality towards winning and we’re grateful for what he has given us.”
