- The affected students attend Henley College, Reading Blue Coat School, and Highdown Secondary School and Sixth Form Centre in the Reading area.
- The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) confirmed that the strain of meningitis is different from the one responsible for two deaths in Kent earlier this year.
- Close contacts of the cases have been offered precautionary antibiotics by the UKHSA.
- Health officials have stated that the risk to the wider public remains low, and there are no plans for a local emergency vaccination programme.
