De Bruyne and Sterling to start - Man City predicted line up vs Tottenham in Carabao Cup final

Manchester City can put a tumultuous week behind them in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

The last week has seen City announce their intention to be apart of the European Super League, face mass protests from supporters, back out of those proposals, grab an important Premier League win against Aston Villa and now get the chance to win their first piece of silverware this season against Tottenham.

The Blues will also be cheered on by supporters for the first time in over a year, with 2,000 City fans allowed into Wembley to watch the game.

Pep Guardiola has never been one to downplay the importance of the Carabao Cup and he will no doubt be desperate to win the trophy for a fourth time.

Yet, with a massive Champions League semi-final first leg at Paris Saint-Germain coming up on Wednesday, the manager may be tempted to make a few changes to his side.

The first of which could come in goal, with cup 'keeper Zack Steffen taking the place of Ederson between the sticks. The American did make a costly error in his last match, the FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea, but Guardiola tends to stick with his cup 'keepers in finals and selected Claudio Bravo in last year's triumph.

Changes will also come in defence as John Stones is suspended following his red card at Villa Park. Aymeric Laporte will likely take his place and Joao Cancelo may also be recalled at left-back, with Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker keeping their spots.

Captain Fernandinho may return to the side in order to rest Rodri ahead of the trip to Paris, but there could be a return for Kevin De Bruyne.

The brilliant Belgian hobbled out of last weekend's game at Wembley but returned to training on Friday. While it may be a risk to throw him straight back into action, it may be beneficial for him to get some minutes under his belt ahead of facing PSG.

Ilkay Gundogan, Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus could all keep their places in the side, but Phil Foden could also be handed a break ahead of the semi-final.

While he would no doubt be gutted to sit out of a final, especially one in which he was the Man of the Match last season, he is becoming more and more important to City and will be needed against PSG. Raheem Sterling could take his place.

Predicted City starting XI vs Spurs: Steffen; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Gundogan; Mahrez, Jesus, Sterling.
