Metro passengers travelling between Newcastle and Wallsend are set for more disruption today.
It is the third day that a major part of the Metro system has been suspended after two sections of overhead line came down on Monday.
There are no trains running on Wednesday between Wallsend and St James.
A bus replacement service, the 900, is running between the affected stations and tickets are also being accepted on Go North East and Stagecoach services.
Trains had been off between Benton and St James for part of Monday and most of Tuesday after the faults near West Monkseaton and Chillingham Road.
The section between Benton and North Shields was brought back into action at around 8pm on Tuesday with trains now also running again between North Shields and Wallsend.
Nexus has warned that the repairs taking place at Chillingham Road to 500 metres of overhead wire are "complex" and disruption is expected for most of Wednesday.
Customer services director at Nexus, Huw Lewis, said: “Our engineering teams will now be working around the clock at Chillingham Road to get this work carried out as quickly as possible so that Metro services can be restored in the affected area between St James and North Shields.
“Customers can either use replacement buses or use their Metro tickets on local buses but they should leave extra time if travelling in the affected area.”
The rest of the network is running as normal.
