Davinia Taylor's three steps to follow if you want to halve your biological age

Davinia Taylor has revealed how she has more than halved her biological age - from 47 to 20 years old - with just a few simple steps.

The actress - a former self-proclaimed party girl - said she has gotten to the point in her life where she knows she needs to start looking after her body.

The star says she has taken her health and wellbeing more seriously in recent years - and is noticing a massive difference.

And by taking control of her life, and taking just a few simple steps - she has managed to cut her body’s age by a massive 17 years, something she found out after having her body’s cells tested.

So what are the steps?

1. Inflammation Action

The star says we have common enemy when it comes to ageing - inflammation in our bodies.

She urges her followers to “put out the inflammation fire” and says if you do not target inflammation in your body, you will start to notice it everywhere. She said: “We’re seeing the consequences of it everywhere, in every aspect of our health and wellbeing.”

To target this, she says, you are likely to need a diet overhaul.

She explained to The Sun: “I was inflamed for years, which had severely detrimental effects on my health. I was swollen and retaining water.

“My muscles were constantly fatigued. I was brain-foggy and plagued with low-level anxiety and insecurity that made me dread leaving the house.” She went on to explain, “if you’re struggling with energy – even if you haven’t got a weight problem – you are probably dealing with chronic inflammation.”

And this is caused by so-called healthy convenience foods – cheap and chemical-laden Ultra Processed Foods.

She continued: “Inflammation is at the root of many cancers, too.

“One ingredient highly prevalent in UPFs that causes our bodies to become inflamed is vegetable oil, which, like so much of our diet, is crammed with polyunsaturated fatty acids.

“I’m furious with the food manufacturers. When vegetable oils have been sold to us as the “healthy alternative” to saturated fats, no wonder so many of us are in a constant state of chronic inflammation and dealing with excess weight.”

Davinia says to bin off using vegetable oil, rapeseed, sunflower, corn, cottonseed, safflower, soybean or rice bran and instead replace with olive, avocado or coconut oil, or butter.

She also recommends introducing intermittent fasting to promote autophagy which is when the body goes into a state of repair and breaks down old cells, as well as making sure you are eating enough good fats, such as smoked salmon and avocado.

2. Get Strong

As we age, our strength reserves tend to weaken over time.

As a general rule, our natural muscle mass peaks when we’re about 30 and begins to deplete from then on over time.

Strength training is one way to stop this happening. She says introducing some weights and resistance work outs are an absolute must if you want to stay fit in your later years. “If we do not do any muscle-building exercises and sit around eating rubbish, then we will lose muscle mass, develop weaker bones, stiffer joints and poor balance – all of which lead to more falls,” she said.

And there are additional benefits to strength training - not just for your body but for your mental health too. She continued: “Regardless of whether you are going to a gym or not, or if you haven’t exercised in ages, you need to boost your dopamine levels.

“We want to hack into the feel- good hormones to get you motivated and set the tone for making exercise as enjoyable as possible.

“It’s never too late – you can start wherever and whenever you want. Aim for progress, not perfection.”

3. Properly fuel

Not using the right fuel for your body is a disaster, because without a proper diet - you will not have the energy to live well and make better choices.

Davinia said: “When I look back at what I used to eat to sustain me, no wonder I was knackered.

“My diet was full of salads, with low-fat dressing, super-lean meat, whole grains and brown bread.”

She says now she has rethought her prices to include healthy fats and protein as a priority.

“Protein is so important,” she says. “It powers biological functions – our hormones, immune system, structural support and muscle development.

“We need a balance of great protein sources, energy from fat, fibre and a small amount of carbs, too.”

As well as this, Davinia recommends basing your meals on protein first, then adding carbs, plus making sure you are getting Vitamin C - adding that seasonal fruits are a great way of getting this on board.
