We finally have our answer on what happened between Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood. So cue up the “Silver Springs” by Fleetwood Mac and let’s get into it.
When the third season of White Lotus was airing, fans were hyper aware of everything going on with stars Walton Goggins and Aimee Lou Wood. Goggins played Rick, a rich man searching for revenge and Wood was his younger girlfriend Chelsea, who tried her best to be there for him. Their love story was twisted, tragic, and one fans obsessed over. So when Goggins and Wood unfollowed each other on social media, it had fans buzzing.
During a new interview with Variety, the White Lotus stairs finally unpacked the rumored feud between the two of them. Meaning that Walton Goggins explained why he unfollowed Aimee Lou Wood on Instagram.
“There is no feud. I adore, I love this woman madly, and she is so important to me,” he told the outlet. Variety stated that he turned to look at Wood as he said the next part. “This is Goldie Hawn. This is Meg Ryan. She can do anything, and she will. You watch what the next 20 years of her experience will be. I’ll be on an island, I think Greece. But she’s special. There is no feud. She is love and I know that I am that to her. We care about each other very deeply.”
Part of the issue came from a conversation that Goggins had with a journalist from The Times. The journalist in question asked multiple times about Wood and Goggins shut it down over and over again. According to Goggins, he didn’t want to talk about it then because Wood wasn’t there. “What am I gonna do, speak for both of us? Never.”
So why did he unfollow her?

As the interview went on, Wood pointed out that she wished people cared more about their characters then all of this but eventually Goggins opened up about the real reason he unfollowed Wood: He’s not good with saying goodbye to things.
“When I left ‘Justified,’ I went up to Tim [Olyphant], and I hugged him and I said, ‘I love you, and I hope I see you in rooms for the rest of my life,’” he said. “I didn’t talk to him for almost two years. I’ve done that with every single thing that I’ve done.”
Because of Goggins’ own personal connection to where they were filming, his past, and the loss he’s suffered, he shared that after filming he just needed to take a step back as a way of protecting himself. “I needed to just back away from everyone,” he said. “I haven’t spoken to anyone. I couldn’t handle it. Judge me or don’t. I don’t give a fuck what you think. This is my process. Rick means everything to me, and Chelsea means everything to me. And so that’s what I needed to do for me to process all of this.”
If you were still worried about the two, don’t be! Goggins followed Wood during the interview (remember when that happened on social media and everyone was also obsessed with that?). But know that Goggins also thinks that everyone’s obsession with this is silly. “It’s all so ridiculous,” he said. “It’s just a part of me just saying goodbye to this character so that now Aimee and I will be friends for f***ing ever.”
So, to recap: No. There is no feud between Goggins and Wood. And we hope they end up working together again soon!
