Davie Provan bemoans staggering Celtic turnaround as he declares board must 'take every ounce of flak'

Davie Provan reckons Celtic have endured a power shift like no other in their history.

The former Parkhead star bemoaned rivals Rangers being able to close what once looked like an unbridgeable gap between the two clubs.

Steven Gerrard led the Ibrox last season's Premiership title while the Celtic board were pilloried by fans for failing to deliver 10 In A Row.

And Provan admits he's astonished by the turnaround as the club remains without a new manager 100 days on from Neil Lennon's resignation.

“10 In A Row looked like an absolute stick-on and looked like a procession," he told Go Radio.

“And there is no doubt that’s how the board of directors saw it and I am afraid it’s the board that has to take every ounce of flak because they certainly deserve it.

“They have thrown away an advantage that no Celtic board in history have enjoyed in terms of financial dominance over Rangers.

“And somehow they have taken them into a position where they are already underdogs for next season.”
