Getting dumped on Love Island isn’t all bad news – David Walliams “slid into the DMs” of former contestant Amy Hart.
(For the uninitiated, that means he sent her a direct message on social media.)
Air hostess Amy, 26, declared she had a “weird crush” on David, 47, before entering the villa – admitting “there is something about [him]”.
But ego-crushingly for David, who was once married to model Lara Stone, she also said: “You’d never go there, obviously.” Ouch.
A source said David’s message was “kind and supportive”, as Amy admits she was left “humiliated” when Curtis Pritchard – brother of Strictly’s AJ – dumped her, prompting her to walk out of the villa for the sake of her mental health.
She tells Grazia magazine that she does recognise the person she fell in love with when she sees Curtis’s on-screen persona.
“I don’t know which one’s real, because they can’t both be,” she scoffs.
Amy’s saga endeared her to another famous fan, in Love Actually’s director Richard Curtis.
Amy has it on good authority that Richard said: “I never believed in the saying it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all until I saw Amy leave Love Island.”
Amy squeals: “The king of romantic comedy. I made him believe in love.”
