David Turnbull injury latest as Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson hails rehab

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson revealed David Turnbull is looking good as he edges closer to a return from the horror injury that wrecked his move to Celtic.

But he refused to put a time frame on when the Scotland Under-21 star will finally make a comeback.

Robinson says he will continue to be guided by the medical team at Fir Park who are focused on the 20-year-old’s career over short-term benefits.

Turnbull, who was on the brink of a £3.25m move to Parkhead last summer only for a medical to throw up an issue with his knee, is still not in full training.

But Robinson said: “We are doing everything to make sure he’s 100 per cent right for the rest of his career. He looks very, very good at this moment.

“But with the surgeon and our physio we are guided by exactly what they want us to do.

“We have the top physio in the country in David Henderson. He is top class in the way he works with David and all the players.”

Motherwell don’t have troubles to seek in forward areas with Chris Long out for the Scottish Cup clash with St Mirren tonight and on-loan Mikael Ndjoli waiting on the results of a knee scan.

With Devante Cole back at Wigan and James Scott moving to Hull, it could mean Tony Watt is set to be given the nod.

Robinson said: “In an ideal world we’d give him a little bit longer but he’s an experienced boy.”
